Into the linings, and up the scaffold
Most of the month Cruz has been on a large renovation, getting the framing cavities insulated before the linings go in, then working through the ins and outs of installing GIB. That means learning the things that separate a tidy lining job from a rough one: screw patterns, how to cut the sheets cleanly, and where the tapered edges go versus the square edges.
He's also been on our Papamoa Beach Road reclad, helping replace the sheet cladding to one end of the house. That job ran the full process: insulating, cutting out and replacing rotten framing, and installing the new sheet cladding before the texture coat went on. It's a second storey, so it meant working off scaffold and getting real practice at working safely at heights.
On top of the tools, Cruz passed his Site Safe passport this month, so he's ticked off his site safety qualification and is set up to work safely on any site we put him on.

Two reclads, and his first job to lead
Solid month for Cruz. He's worked across a couple of reclad jobs and got into the interior side of things as well. At Cambridge Road he was alongside Jamie installing Rondo batten through the ceilings, then took on the insulation installation on the same project.
He also helped get the Te Matai Road weatherboard replacement finished off. He's now onto a Hardie weatherboard replacement in prep for paint, and he's leading the charge on that one. First time running a job section as his own, and he's handling it.

Eager, willing to learn, and an all-round good young fella. He knows his position well and he's taken to ProServ and the way we do things without any issue. He's still young and still learning, but he's going to make a great builder one day.
